ABOUT THE GLO PROPERTY
GLO is a simple, 1-acre, private retreat home location (sleeping 6-10 people) focused on healing through fresh, local plantbased foods, yoga, movement, de-stressing in nature, and making real friendships. It features a main club house with a full kitchen for all nutrition classes, a private yoga rancho & workout deck which also doubles as the community dining area for retreat guests. For guests we offer a simple, clean three bedroom cottage that sleeps 2 to a room, complete with:
• 3 secured rooms with ceiling fans and individual bed fans
• A shared shower for 2 rooms; Master room has own private shower
• 6 beds (2 singles, 4 doubles)
• Private washrooms complete sink, toilet and running non-heated water
• Tiled floors
• Bedding / linens

ABOUT THE GLO CREATOR
Grace Van Berkum, founder of internationally known Gracious Living Lifestyle Retreats, is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Raw Food Chef, Certified Yoga Teacher, and Certified Personal Trainer. Known for anti-inflammatory, holistic healing, plantbased nutrition plans, wellness retreats, and chef training, Grace plans, manages and teaches Private and Group Retreats based on a Level 1-5 Cell Health system. Hundreds of her recipes and photos can be found in international magazines, websites and sponsor sites around the world. She has 3 RAW HEALING
recipe books found on her personal website (raw, vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free) focused on disease prevention and healing. Since 2006, Grace has helped thousands of clients transform their health and re-direct their futures with her lifestyle knowledge and loving support. Whether you are pursuing a career as a yoga instructor or you would like to deepen your practice and understanding of Yoga, this 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training will give you the skills and knowledge to be a confident, effective and responsive teacher and Yoga practitioner. This program is designed to help you grow and evolve as a Yoga teacher and as an inspired student of life. The emphasis is on developing an insightful and intelligent practice rooted in alignment and connection to breath. While all levels are welcomed, students should have a developed and dedicated yoga practice. The training requires a willingness to connect deeply and explore with an open heart.
The Fundamentals of Yoga
Study and learn the fundamentals of a Yoga practice through the lens of the universal principles of alignment. In this segment of the course there will be a daily practice as well as a comprehensive study of 27 fundamental Asana postures. Upon completion of this segment, participants can expect to possess a solid experiential understanding of how to practice skillfully, and will have an in-depth knowledge of fundamental postures in an Asana practice.
History and Philosophy of Yoga
Yoga has a rich and varied history, which encompasses different philosophical and religious traditions from classical to contemporary teachings. In History and Philosophy of Yoga, you will study texts from the Yoga Sutras and The Gita.
Anatomy and Physiology
Becoming a skillful Yoga teacher requires a thorough understanding of the human body. In Anatomy and Physiology, you will learn the biomechanics of asana and the human body. You will develop a thorough understanding of how the muscles and joints work in relation to the practice of Yoga, and how this knowledge can be applied in teaching. Finally, you will learn to deconstruct postures from an anatomical perspective and modify them to benefit individual students.
Meditation, Philosophy and Practice Intensive
During this part of the training, you will develop the most important cornerstone of being a teacher, your practice. You will be practicing regularly throughout the program; however this segment is designed to enhance growth by going deeper into the practice of Yoga, practical Philosophy, Meditation and Pranayama. Extended practices allow time to combine various modalities in an in-depth and experiential way.
The Art of Teaching, Sequencing and Becoming a Yoga Teacher
Learn how to apply your Knowledge of Yoga philosophy, anatomy, asana, meditation and pranayama into teaching skillful, inspiring and intelligent classes. This includes understanding how to sequence a class around a theme or specific area of the body, or create movement-focussed classes (i.e. back bends, hip openers). You will learn how to adapt your teaching style as needed from gentle classes to more powerful Vinyasa classes. You will also be able to teach competently in both a hot and regular temperature studio environment.
You will learn to:
Communicate clearly and effectively
See your students and understand their needs
Adjustments: verbal, visual and hands on
Modify postures for diverse anatomical needs
Create classes that attend to varying student levels
Holding the seat of the teacher
Use of props to effectively support students
Demonstrate postures concisely and powerfully
To hone your skills and increase your confidence as an instructor, you will practice teaching fellow students, as well as a diverse group of guests form the public.
Sharing Your Offering:
Now that you have completed your training, how do you grow your offering. We will discuss ‘The Business’ of yoga.The curriculum follows the standards set forth by Yoga Alliance.
Yoga is the yoking of the body, mind and soul. To sustain the body we need to nourish it properly. Upon completion of the Teacher Training, Grace VanBerkum owner of Gracious Living Oasis, will teach a five hour nutrition course along with one personalized nutrition consultation per guest.
YOUR TEACHER TRAINING FACULTY
Sonia Clarke is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga school: RYS200; as well as an ERYT-500 and YACEP certified Yoga Instructor and Continuing Education Provider. She has been teaching yoga for eight years.Sonia has received a certification in Yoga of Awareness for Cancer at Duke Integrated Medicine, part of Duke University Health Systems in Durham, NC. She is Canada’s first, and thus far only yoga teacher to receive this certification from Duke University. Sonia has been working with cancer patients and survivors sharing the practice of yoga for 5 years through all the Wellspring Centers in the Greater Toronto Area including Princess Margaret and Sunnybrook Hospitals.
Sonia is part of Kula Yoga’s Teacher Training Faculty at both their Toronto and Oakville locations for Yoga for Cancer Teacher Training; and Pre Natal & Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training programs. She is also part of Gracious Living Oasis’ Teacher Training Faculty in Nicaragua offering: 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training; Yoga for Cancer Teacher Training; and Yin Yoga & Restorative Yoga Teacher Training. Sonia is also part of Downward Dog’s 300 Hour Teacher Training faculty in Toronto, Ontario offering Yoga for Cancer as one of the modules. Sonia is also conducting Yoga for Cancer Teacher Training in Eastern Canada. She was part of Clarity Center’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training faculty in Oakville, Ontario.Sonia has completed her Yoga Therapy in her 300 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, Advanced Anatomy Labs through the Toronto Osteopathy School; is certified in Yoga for Hip and Knee Replacement through Hamilton McMaster Health Services; and has received her certification in Yoga for Seniors from a Duke University affiliate. Sonia has also worked with professional athletes in the Canadian Football League (CFL), bringing them the practice of Yoga.

Julia is a yoga teacher, massage therapist, health food chef and mindful eating guide with a love for dance, solo-hiking and alternative healing modalities. Her carefully crafted classes and workshops comprise a nourishing blend of various Hatha yoga styles, acupressure, meditation and insights from ancient traditions such as Ayurveda, Buddhism and Tantra. She is passionate about facilitating nurturing space for her clients to connect with themselves on the level of body, mind and soul alike – through movement, bodywork, food therapy and mindfulness practices.
Lianne is a holistic therapist, conscious life coach, intuitive healer and down to earth mystic, deeply fascinated by the human evolution and the Universe. She wakes up every morning with the desire to embody her full potential and to guide others to do the same, by holding space in processes of healing, expansion and awakening. In her work she incorporates modalities like meditation, visualisation, kinesiology, EFT, energy reading, energy healing, massage, sound healing, NLP, developmental psychology, chakra psychology and natural medicine. She believes that this journey called life is not so much about becoming anything, but rather about reconnecting with our true essence while stepping up into fully understanding that WE are the writers of our story.
